Its becoming more difficult to to ‘hide in plain sight’ my not-small-anymore pens & inks collection.

Just counted right now: 19 ink bottles: 30ml, 40ml, 50ml, 90ml.

And that’s not counting ink samples and the ones that are still flying or in some warehouse in transit to me.

Too much?

Well, I know that I had enough inks (and I used a lot of samples) to use a new ink each day for more than a year and I didn't run out of ink.  I gave up on hiding my inks.  I know show them off!

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

It depends. Are you a minimalist?

(Now that I say that, what would a minimalist pen collector even look like? One Lamy 2000 and a bottle of ink? Is that even collecting then? hahahahah!)

Close to 30 bottles now. That doesn't count samples. I have two of those 50 vial trays and still probably have over 20 samples in plastic bags....over and above that.

I think you are "just warming up!"

I told myself I would only have a "few" inks of a "few" colors & maybe same for pens; that was several hundred of each ago & I just think of myself as "serving my Ink Masters," who have preceded me in the joy of the many nuances available.  Once you admit it is "bigger than you," it becomes much easier!

My Mother loved textiles, quilts, coverlets, fabric to make same & always said, "they are easier than the animals living with her; they lie still, MANY can be stored in drawers, cabinets & chests, without feeding or going outside for their "needs."  Of the many things I have enjoyed, pens & ink take up so little space in comparison, I do not worry about it.

Just enjoy what you are comfortable with; you can always divest ones that bother you.  I have acquired a couple of very good friends by sharing what I no longer care about & they have not used same.

I would hazard a guess at just under 100, not including samples. How very cruel of you to make me count... :P

38 bottles, no samples.

Anyone owning three or more working pens is in no position to disparage choices by others.

I prefer not to think about it. I just leave stashes in several locations. I am not as brave as ink master Amberleadavis.

Somewhere between "too many" and "not enough"....  B)

Oh wait, do back-up bottles count?   Because if that's the case, I just counted -- and it's 162.  Mind you that a couple of mini bottles (some blue and purple ink that came with a J Herbin glass pen someone was giving away....

Oh, I think I'm also forgetting a set of Dr. Martin's watercolor inks, which are in a drawer someplace, and ditto for some (possibly dead after all these years) non FP inks for dip pens and for my Rapidographs....

Currently have 31 bottles of ink. I use only 5~ of them regularly now . There are only 2 or 3 inks I still want to try, going to buy those whenever this winter thing is over.

Just less than 800 when both lots (UK and Aus) are added together. There are a few, but not very many, duplicates. Plus about 30-ish samples and some cartridges. Openly stored for easy access, as we are both enthusiastic fountain pen and ink users.

If asked directly, I would say I have a "reasonable" number of inks. Not so many as to be "too many", but not so few as to be mean. :D  After all when you retire, like I have, and you can see a future with no more than a specific number of years, I need to ensure there are enough to see me through, without leaving my OH with a huge problem when the worst happens and I'm no longer around. He will have enough of a problem with my pens.

WOW!   :yikes:

As for me, 12 bottles, all 30ml, 6 Pelikan 4001 and 8 Diamine standard series. And 2 ink samples by Diamine.

I consider myself a total beginner in the world of bottled inks since I've always only ever used short standard international cartridges in school.

Everybody here has already taught me so much about bottled inks. I hope I can expand my collection during the years so one day I can have a nice huge rainbow of colors to choose from.

Not too crazy yet:

Paradise Pen - blue, green, blue/black, burgundy

Cross - black

Pilot/Iro.  set of 3 15 ml - blue, green, red (skipping the Japanese names for now).

I like the blue/black, and the Pilot green (Syo-Ro ?) best. Would like a greener green, and a blacker black, and

interested in a brown or antique-looking color at some point.
