Thanks! Good to know. I had just picked up one of the intra-bottle Ink Misers at Fountain Pen Hospital a couple of weeks ago, but it is going to be a little tall for some bottles. And $3.25 per is definitely cheaper than $6 plus NYC sales tax....

I had considered getting the free-standing one as well, but I pulled it out of the box to take a peek -- and honestly, it looked a little flimsy, and more than a bit top heavy (i.e., a bit less stable than your average 5 ml sample vial). So just got the one, and will see how well I like it.

I like the fact that the R&K ones look a little sturdier -- but up till now I wasn't sure where to get them from.

This came in with today's JetPens newsletter. Same idea for a bit less than the Ink Miser

Comes out to $3.25 a piece

The link posted above takes me to an item with a list price of $9.75, not $3.25! Is this the correct link/page???

Yes. It's $9.75 for a pack of 3, each being $3.25 if the cost is divided between them.

Yes, thank you!! I just went back and double checked (before I read your response) and saw the "pack of three" notation. Jumping to conclusion isn't so bad. Especially when you have nice people to remind you to double check my "parachute".

If you get an inexpensive plastic dispensing syringe you will find many uses for it, including getting the very last drop out of an ink bottle, refilling cartridges so you can reuse them, filling converters directly (which I don't like, because it means taking the converter out of the pen, which increases wear on the converter mouth), and filling eyedropper pens (which are among my favorites). And there's no pouring ink back and forth between various containers.

Looks interesting! Please let us know how it goes. I may have to add a pkg to my next order.
Sailor ink bottle engineers, take note!

The older Sailor bottles do have something like an Ink Miser or the R&K ones in them. Or, at least my bottle of old-version Sky High does....

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
