What Would You Like To See From Montblanc In 2018?

I would like to buy from a local store, yet I hear about no middle man; yet there is a place near KC called the Pen Place which has MB on line and I assume at their store. I thought it was MB boutiques only where you could buy them. I get MB refills at Office Depot.

If there is ever an MB139 reissue, it will probably:

1. Be made of 'precious resin' and not celluloid or ebonite

2. Have a modern 149 nib without the special writing qualities of the early nibs

3. Have a standard modern piston mechanism, not telescoping; and

4. Cost the same as a 149 plus a significant premium, say 30%, for being 'special.'

Oh well. Don't mind the piston part. As for the rest, guess I'll have to remain MB-less.

Add lightness and simplicate.

Using my Kafka quite a bit recently along with my regular use 149 got me thinking this: a 149 with Kafka resin. Take my money now...

I would very much like a Harry Potter line similar to the Le Petite Prince line

"Why me?"
"That is a very Earthling question to ask, Mr. Pilgrim. Why you? Why us for that matter? Why anything? Because this moment simply is. Have you ever seen bugs trapped in amber?"
"Yes."

"Well, here we are, Mr. Pilgrim, trapped in the amber of this moment. There is no why."

-Kurt Vonnegut, Slaughterhouse-Five

No offence to anyone, and though I’m not a fan of both bands, I have to say that going from the Beatles to the Guns N Roses within a year or so would sort of hurt.

If we talk of bands, my freaky brain came up with this string without me even realising it; “Montblanc”, “posh and slightly eccentric”, “Pink Floyd”.

Otherwise I hope Montblanc will come up with something next year to celebrate the 50 year anniversary of that one giant leap for mankind. Oh, and hopefully not only something limited to a few pens and worth a lifetime of salaries.

* Off topic, back to music: If you ask me what band would be the best for inspiring pens – not necessarily Montblanc at all; both 'brands' don't quite fit- I would say for sure Iron Maiden. There is so much imagery to their songs, Eddy, the tour stages, props, t-shirts, etc. that you could (and by 'could' I mean 'should') actually make a pen for each of their albums.

Pink Floyd could have many eccentric posiblilities:

A prism

A flying pig

A Saucer with something confidantial in

An axe, handled with care

A moon, not well lit

But they (Montblanc) would over do it.

I just want to see the Heritage Spider and the Writer's Edition hurry up and get released before the year runs out.

Me too!

Is there any information anywhere on a possible Heritage Spider - is it purely "fan" conjecture or is there a clear indication it will happen?

I had never considered this, but now you mention it, I'm in too!

Yes the pen will be release this year but don't remember when approximately. The pen will be in the same format of the R&N ones but the spider will encircle the barrel. I don't remember how is the clip.

I have just spoken to my Montblanc Authorised Dealer friend and he showed me some low-res photos from his electronic price catalog... and they look great. Not good enough quality to really see the detail, but I think I'll be getting one... now to decide... black or coral?!

Mine too... IF the black version has jewelled eyes (in the ReN 'snake pen', the black doesnt have jewel set eyes - just the other versions).

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
