Return of the Bordeux 146. Or a 149 in Bordeaux.

That! A Bordeaux 149 would have "take my money" written all over it.

I'm with you there!

An Ultra Black 149 would also be nice. And a matt black / rolled gold 146.

Whilst the Saint Exupery was great, I would like to see a Writers Edition that isn't predominately metal this year. Considering it will be Homer in 2018, I'm thinking we might have a good chance of this.

Short cuts make delays, but inns make longer ones.

~ Montblanc has already announced that it's Homer in 2018?

Somehow I missed that.

That's good to know.

Thank you for the follow-up.

I’m slowing down with age, so I thought that somehow I'd missed an announcement.

I re-read the Odyssey in 2016.

At that time I never considered a Montblanc pen.

With Homer's frequent reference to the “wine-dark sea”, would the ink be a richly dark red?

Hi, Tom--

It could just as easily be the "rosy-fingered dawn." I can't see a sunrise without thinking of that phrase.

How about a 139 reissue. I'd also like to see green striated for the 14X.

So you bought your entire collection in under two years? I can see why your local boutique treats you well...

~ Hi, Jay!

You're wiser than I am.

What you've suggested sounds more apt.

That would be a lovely ink hue, wouldn't it?

I'm no Homer!

My poor explanation was unintentionally incomplete and thus misleading.

What I ought to have made clearer was that in re-reading the Odyssey, I had no thought at that time of Homer ever being selected by Montblanc for a Writer's Edition pen.

My fountain pens — and a rollerball and two ballpoints — were purchased over a number of years.

My apologies for the post's muddled writing.

Green striated 149...

that would require knowing the current going rate of a kidney though...pwsuba is right about that

I would ask quite some things regarding price, quality, nice celluloids, telescopic pistons, (semi) flexible nibs... but I think they resume to "return to what you were capable to do back in the thirties-fifties".

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
