I recently acquired a Sheaffer Balance from the 1930's on ebay.  On closer inspection, I found a tiny hole by the lever on the body of the pen.  Is this normal?

There are actually 2 holes, one on each side of the lever (look closely and you'll see it). That is where the pin that holds the lever in place is inserted. So, very normal.  :)

Enjoy your balance. They are gorgeous pens (at least to my eyes).

Thank you - and excuse my naivete.  I truly have fallen in love with the balance.

No worries. We all have been there, done that! I'm just happy to help.

I have one Balance just like yours, Marine Green I believe, and it is gorgeous. The only trouble is that I got hooked and want more  :D .
