I have the GS 28 in front of me and can definitely say it is a number 6 nib, I'm not familiar with the others.

Do the Hero 5020, Gold Star 28 and Wing Sung 626 use the same size nib?

Hi Steven, I really like the Golden Star 565 (billed as a PFM style pen) but mine keeps drying out. Have tried, without success, to seal the cap. Do you have a drying problem and have you found a fix??

Thanks

My Golden Star 565 it's lasts close to a week unused , for my that it's ok . You could try the Hero 565 it's essentially the same pen but it is drying slower it writing even after a week of been unused and in general it's a little better .

I love the size of the 565, sometimes billed as a Chinese PFM, but the pen dries out. Have tried sealing the cap with various thing but no real solution. If your dries out do you have any ideas?

Edited to add: Where did you find an aftermarket barrel? I thought the 565 was discontinued.

I just happen to start another fill on my Heror 565 ( which I had an after market wooden barrel fitted ) today, with Diamine Evergreen

No they are not in production AFAIK, but plenty of stock are still around retail and just might be, Hero could still be doing irregular scheduled batch production. In any case there is several aftermarket barrel parts on Taobao and in their home market online retail channel but I am not sure if they offer those on say Etsy or AliExpress , but here's a link to one of the better one still offering - Hero 565 after market wooden barrel on TaoBao -

BTW mine do not had any issue with dry out but if there is such its likely to do with the cap liner / inner cap having air gap open to the environment usually around the cap / inner cap edge and then the clip , some thick silicone grease usually solve the problem quite well

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
