Awww. I had an Air Canada branded version of that pen in white. I used to love it. Its nib and its width were perfect for my day to day scribbling.

The pen unfortunately broke and I kept the nib as a keepsake in the hope it'll fit something else. Of all the broken bits of pen and all the sections laying in my tin of shame, the nib never has :(

Thank you for sharing this. As we know even the cheapest pens can bring us a great deal of pleasure. :)

Loved reading this, Tas. I have a few pens from so, so many years ago. It's a unique kind of pleasure to pull them into the rotation every now and then. The tactile experience of writing with them is like a sense memory. ...in fact, I suppose is quite literally a sense memory. A pen fetishist's version of Proust's madeleine.

Of all the pens I have lost/trashed over the years, I'm most nostalgic for the Sheaffer school pens I used throughout high school. They were nothing special, but they got me addicted to fountain pens, and their nibs were great reverse writers -- whether intentionally or not I don't know.

I've never seen another Sizzlestix in the wild. I do have another A&W pen, though -- posted a photo of it on this thread not all that long ago. Hope you find a barrel your nib/section will fit!

Great contribution! I'm intrigued by the ink -- I'm unfamiliar with both the bottle and the shade. What is it?

Picked up this Nettuno Petra Lines a little while back and have no regrets. It writes great, the fit and finish are excellent and the feel is reminiscent of early Delta pens.

What a perfect combination. The artwork is lovely and, of course, completely appropriate.

Hello everyone,

I just finished restoring my Sheaffer Snorkel Valiant in Periwinkle color, it functions perfectly now and the nib is unbelievable, the only thing preventing it from becoming my EDC pen is its rare color, its filled with Waterman Serenity Blue (aka Florida Blue)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
