Aha! Artistic skill, rather than nib-grinding. Thank you for solving the mystery.

Most welcome.

It came! The nib still isn't quite right but it manages to write beautifully anyway.

Ugh. I spoke too soon. The tines are still too tight and recross themselves very easily.

First time inking this vintage beauty.

mrp100: I'm a big fan of Diamond pens. I'm not an obsessive collector, and don't actually know all that much about them, but I have a handfull, and all are just wonderful. I've never seen that material, before, though, and was very grateful that you posted it. Thank you.

I just stumbled on this as I was browsing through the "show us" thread

David, that's a fantastic job! how did you get Shawn to do that?... (you must have waited for ages, too...)

I had not seen an 88 mod before... (this deserves a place in the planet series...an 88 with CS barrel is "out of this world" :D )

ActorOutOnLoan, you have a great pen there, looks like a soft feeling writer.. nice that you get to use it:)
ScarletWoodland I like your lady duofold, some of those little nibs can't take too much pressure I have a couple that can't anyway, without having to
realign them... does it have a lucky curve nib?

Awww. I had an Air Canada branded version of that pen in white. I used to love it. Its nib and its width were perfect for my day to day scribbling.

The pen unfortunately broke and I kept the nib as a keepsake in the hope it'll fit something else. Of all the broken bits of pen and all the sections laying in my tin of shame, the nib never has :(

Thank you for sharing this. As we know even the cheapest pens can bring us a great deal of pleasure. :)

Renée at Scriptorium - nib by FPnibs

Congratulations, again. It's a thing of beauty. I look forward to seeing the lines it puts down. (Hint. Hint.)

I have a love/hate relationship with the aesthetics of those nibs. On the one hand, I love the unadorned simplicity. (I chose my watch because it has a plain face with not brand logo on it.) On the other hand, every time I see one, I have a visceral reaction that it doesn't look right, being so...naked. :-)   So, I contradict myself.

But the love of a nib is in the writing. I hope you fall ever more in love with each word written.

I generally only write with vintage or custom pens, but I tuned the nib on this Jinhao 599 in Richard Binder’s workshop last fall so I decided to put it into my rotation.

It's a humble start, but y'all have got me hooked on fountain pens! I'm loving the smoothness and playing with new ink colors and choices!

Hey, humble doesn't necessarily mean "lesser". I have Preppies and Lamys and they are the work horses in my pen stable! I love them and use them daily. I have a few of the fancier horses that I take out for our Sunday drive, but my humbler ones see more action. Enjoy your pens! That's why they are there. ^_^
