S T Dupont Orient Express with GvFC Burnt Orange. No choice. The Onoto 3500 ran out of ink.

I've got a few dozen pens, but there are only a few in regular circulation for me today:

 

  • Pilot Custom 823. I own two. I picked up one from Japan with the clear body, Fine nib. That's one of my daily users. I also have an amber body with a broad nib that was customized with an oblique grind and added flex. I rarely use it only because I've lost interest in flex. I'd very happily pick up another one of these with the oblique grind and no added flex.
  • Parker Duofold Senior "Big Red". I didn't set out to buy this pen. It was a sort of accidental contest win from another group. But I find I'm really enjoying it and using it daily.
  • Wing Sung 698. What a great value! This one is in my messenger bag most of the time, so when I need a pen away from home, I'm not going to cry if I lose this one.

 

EDIT: I did some more digging to ID the Parker. It's a 1926 model.

magnus919..if you are not using your photograph or scan re Parker 'Big Red' and instead use Tony Fischier at Parkerpens.net..

perhaps you attribute that information.

Bullet journaling today with my Pelikan M600, green striated, with "F" nib and Pelikan 4001 Royal Blue ink. As I bullet journal I use my old and trusty Deskfax Filofax. Later, when I'll practice my Italian, I'll use my Parker 75 with the "new" nib, to give it some use. It is inked with Diamine Majestic Blue.

My new today Conklin Duraflex. I like this pen! You can rip on that nib pretty good! Go from a wet euro fine to a paintbrush with no railroading. Its much better than my ahab and infinitely smoother. No complaints so far! Im glad to have it! Also worth mentioning, the nib is aligned to the text on the barrel. When capped, the clip is lined up dead nuts to the text on the barrel too. All that on a $60 pen!

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off.
