Happy mail arrived with my very first TWSBI Eco. I opted for the clear, broad nib, with red at the end cap.

It shipped with some kind of oil. Can't wait to get home and read all instructions.

Identical pen to mine but mine has the medium nib. The bottle is silicone grease for lubing the piston should you need to disassemble, not that I ever have done this.To me it is not necessary and they say tamper with at your own risk! Enjoy your pen. It's all the pen anyone needs really, has a nice German Jowo nib and so much more interesting than a Lamy Safari for not much more cash.

Tell me 'bout it . . . just got my first Lamy Safari. Not overly impressed, no complaints, just not impressed, LOL.

I want a TWISBI Mini so bad I can taste it. I also want one in at least a medium IF I could only get one more. I have a feeling medium will be my sweet nib. Jury is still out as I am learning. I wonder if/when I find my EDC will I forsake the ones I am amassing? That's why I am not spending on very expensive pens. I suspect I may have faves for particular things; i.e., journaling versus what's in my bag or purse.

It's fun finding out. :D

Fascinating pen. I want a TWSBI too.

BTW, how does one pronounce TWSBI? Twizz'-Bee ?

Happy Day.

My two TWSBI are both XF. If I get a third it’d be a 1.1mm or 1.5mm if I can get my mitts on one. I draw a lot and it’s tough to get a very fine line out of a fat nib, so they have the skinniest line I can get. They’re my absolute favorites for drawing. The italic has a fair bit of line variety, and since I do calligraphy it’s always nice to have an extra nib that works. I keep trying to talk myself out of a third, but I know eventually I’ll cave. The Jowo nibs are the nicest I have.

I haven’t tried the mini, but my 580 should in principle be similar. Ink capacity wins over weight, and a regular 580 just isn’t that heavy.

They both get used for writing too. My XF eco is my dedicated black pen. It gets fed black ink and only my favorite black ink. The 580 is easier to use with ink samples, so it tends to get variety.

Have fun with it! TWSBIs are pretty damn reliable and the piston filler mechanism is great for the price you pay. The nibs are also pretty good.

If I ever find an ink to make me stop trying samples with a converter I'll consider an Eco for sure.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
