Excellent service and prices, really knowledgeable and helpful whenever I've called them. Fast delivery as well, they're usually my first choice for any new purchase.

Anna and Martin at The Writing Desk are great. I’ve ordered from them many times and always received excellent service. I’ve ordered for delivery both to U.K. and Australia addresses. Their overseas service is as good as their domestic.

No affiliation, just another very happy customer.

I recently ordered from them for the very first time. (M200 Brown marbled) No complaints to date. It took a little time to ship, but as this was a new release, I was late enough ordering it that I had to wait until they got additional stock in. It was shipped this past week.

Has anyone ordered fountain pens from the TheWritingDesk?

Yes, many times.

What has your experience been like ordering from them?

I have always been happy with their service. Anna & Martin are really pleasant people to deal with. Highly recommended.

Thanks for the mention and all the positive feedback. We feel humbled. Sorry for the late reply but we haven't been on FPN lately.

I had a terrific experience with the M200 brown marbled I purchased. I was originally given an incorrect tracking number (for something going to Dublin), but as soon as it was discovered, I contacted them and they promptly got me the correct one. Not bad, considering I am GMT-7, so that creates its own challenges.

I would not hesitate to purchase from them again in the future.

Look, The Writing Desk are great people - they can actually deal with my mother, who is the world's worst customer, particularly when it comes to her trying to get me a Christmas present... I didn't read the correspondence but from what I can gather she ordered the wrong pen, with the wrong nib selection ... and they helped her get it right. They deserve a medal for Customer Service in Adverse Circumstances.

Too many pens, too little time!

Ha ha, that's a great recommendation!

They can also read minds - some years ago Conway Stewart had a special offer which proved immensely popular - so much so that the material I had ordered through TWD had run out. Knowing speed was of the essence in changing the order but not able to get hold of me immediately, Martin correctly guessed my second choice (which he of course confirmed asap). Brilliant service!

I chose my user name years ago - I have no links to BBS pens (other than owning one!)

Thanks to this thread I just placed my first order with them (Pelikan M800 green stripe). I wish I had known of them before, but somehow they have been out of my radar range. Glad to have found them. And their being in Bury St. Edmunds is nice as well (my avatar is a clue).

I ordered a Pelikan 205 (black), no problem, I asked to test the nib before sending me the FP to Lima, great service, I'll do business again with them.

I consider TheWritingDesk.co.uk as one of the best and safest places to buy fountain pens on-line. Repeat customer. By now I bought several pens and inks. Never a problem. Pens can be tested and tuned prior to despatch to ensure optimum performance. Perfect packaging, able to withstand probably even the harshest handling during transport. Customer friendly, fast despatch, good prices. There is nothing I could complain about :happycloud9:

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
