I have great experience with TWD orders. Fair prices, speedy shipping, indication if items are not on stock, and each pen or replacement nib (above certain range) is tested prior to shipping.

Highly recommended!

Anna and Martin at The Writing Desk are great. I’ve ordered from them many times and always received excellent service. I’ve ordered for delivery both to U.K. and Australia addresses. Their overseas service is as good as their domestic.

I bought a bottle of Petrol from them; not only did they have it in stock for $14.50 (wisely limited to 1 per customer), the postage was astoundingly reasonable for GB to USA, I thought - $4.50 iirc. Exchanged a couple of emails, very pleasant people to deal with.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

They are one of the first shops I look at when interested in a new ink. They have great service, fast shipping, and awesome prices on ink especially. All my packages have arrived safety, and as expected!

FP Ink Orphanage-Is an ink not working with your pens, not the color you're looking for, is never to see the light of day again?!! If this is you, and the ink is in fine condition otherwise, don't dump it down the sink, or throw it into the trash, send it to me (payment can be negotiated), and I will provide it a nice safe home with love, and a decent meal of paper! Please PM me!For Sale: TBA

Great place to buy from. They test their more expensive pens before sending them out, so you can be assured that the Visconti, or any other pen, will write out of the box.

I ordered my TWSBI Diamond 540, in advance of release, several years ago. The Writing Desk was very helpful , and service excellent. Shortly thereafter, I received and email that offered an earlier TWSBI Diamond 530, which I bought as well.

Has anyone ordered fountain pens from the TheWritingDesk?

Yes, repeat customer.

What has your experience been like ordering from them?

Among the easiest, most responsive to order from, zero negative issues, competitive if not the best prices, even with international shipping.

My orders were likely comparatively modest, but you wouldn't have known that by their pleasant + swift service.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China. With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters. Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed. And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments.. I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
