Hello,

This FP should be arriving shortly. So far I have been unable to find Googled info about it.

Have any of you heard tell of it?

Google? No. But Duck Duck Go turned up an ebay listing that looked really similar: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Regal-French-Rose-Pink-3-in-1-Pen-Set-NEW-RE-S6-PIA-/391802538715

And that listing was posted by our friends at Goldspot Pens. They don't provide the level of information that makes shopping Goulet so wonderful. Jet Pens has some Regal pens, but not that model.

So does the 'tongue' on the cap fit into the cut-out on the barrel? If that's the case, lining it up properly would quickly become super annoying.

Hello Lyric,

I'd say a .8mm would be the equivalent of a healthy Western Medium nib... just under a Broad.

I've owned a couple Regal pens, (not this one), and I would classify them as a lower middle-range Chinese pen... just under a Picasso in terms of quality.

That said, this pen might be better; the Regal's I bought weren't $30 pens. ;)

Be well and I hope you enjoy it. :)

Just to follow-up... do you like James Joyce or do you like the pen... or both?

I have seen Regal pens on Massdrop from time to time.

Thanks, all . . . I'll answer your answers here:

Yes the cap must for into that groove, LOL.

I did my Google search uner "Regal pens", I thought. Either way, when I redid it the other day I saw them at Goulet, and as stated, some, but not this model.

Mine was indeed purchased via an eBay auction. I paid like $8.00.

No ink 😏 so I won't be able to try it until I find a proper source. I have a query over at Goulet so I know what to buy. The cartridge is very small (in my opinion, so I may not even bother😶).

Thank you all for your help.

The pen caught my eye because of the rich red. Red is one of my favourite colors 😁.

Now, if only I could find a pen: gold nib, metal.body, with the is it marble look? I have seen these beautiful pens that look like jewels or something; not sure if they are marble or what. But they are very feminine looking. Oh, with a piston filling system. 😁

Something like ... this?!

ETA: Posted this half in jest - it's a beautiful pen, red marble with gold, piston-fill (not metal, though) but discontinued and currently none up on ebay. Somewhat similar M620 "Madrid" comes up now and again. The M300 Ruby is fairly easy to get but it's much smaller and holds much less ink.

There's Chinese pens with metal bodies that are painted with a marbled texture, but you might be thinking of acrylic and celluloid pens. These days there's some beautiful acrylics available that custom pen makers and some companies use to make pens. Some of them can be real pricey (especially when you're talking about custom made pens), but FPR, Noodlers and Conklin have some affordable acrylic pens (by which I mean less than $50).

FPR acrylic Himalaya:

Noodlers' Konrad:

Conklin Duragraph:

The Konrad is a piston pen, so might be what you're looking for. It's available in a number of colours in resin, acrylic and ebonite. Ebonite is a very comfortable material in the hand, but doesn't look as good as the acrylics. Their resin pens have a certain scent that some find objectionable, and they dry out quickly. Also note that Noodler's pens are not really great for people new to fountain pens as they can take some fiddling to get working.

The Conklin Duragraph is a cartridge/converter pen, so not a piston, but it should still take bottled inks just fine with a converter.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
