Hello From Indiana.

Hello, everyone. Finally decided to join the FPN. One day awhile back I happened upon a video of someone using a fountain pen and demonstrating how they worked, and I was mesmerized by it. I've been using them constantly and collecting a bit here and there since then. My most used pens are my Lamy 2000 (M) which I use for journaling, and my Pilot Vanishing Point (EF) that I use for jotting down notes at work (I take a lot of notes). Unfortunately I don't know many people who are into fountain pens, so I'm excited to have a place to discuss them with other's who share my interest in them.

Welcome to our little corner of the universe from a pen user in San Diego. You made great choices of pens, but I would've gone with a broad nib ;)

You have some excellent pens there! You might want to go to a pen show - perhaps the Chicago one? - when it comes. You'll find lots of friendly people there and learn lots of things.

Hello and welcome to FPN, from Cape Town, South Africa.

To sit at one's table on a sunny morning, with four clear hours of uninterruptible security, plenty of nice white paper, and a [fountain] pen - that is true happiness!

Welcome !

I have a LAMY 2000. It is one of the smoothest fountain pens I own. Enjoy yours.

Hello and welcome to FPN from a fellow Hoosier.

I'm in Southern Indiana. Just across the river from Louisville.

I'd love to go to a pen show sometime. I could probably make it to one in Chicago some time, if I made a weekend of it.

I've been wanting to get a broad nib pen here recently. Medium just tends to be my comfort zone, and the extra-fine on the Vanishing Point is so I can safely use it on most any paper since I take it to work with me.

Welcome aboard, from Charleston, SC.

Mike

I have some family in Charleston. Any pen shows or good pen shops around that area?

Yeah, the Lamy 2000 is a fantastic pen. I make excuses to use it as frequently as possible. I've thought about picking up a second one some time, but for now I'm going to be good. :P

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
