Hi Ian, I have had a very rough count of my JAPANESE PENS this evening to discover that I can only find 26 of them ,I am still looking!!!!!! Did I ever tell you the story of my poor Aunt, well she was so poor that she used to buy all of our clothes at the Salvation Army Shop, most of them were good but how would you like to go to school dressed as a Japanese Admiral.!!!

I'm sure if he wanted to, he could.

The more I get to know him, the more I admire him.

Believe it or not, his other hobby, is (at 91 yrs old) combing the beaches with a metal detector. :yikes: I love his passion and energy. :notworthy1:

Ian

There is no need to show your contempt for my hobby, I found five cents the other day in two hours

Detecting, I am putting away all of these finds and saving them all for Xmas,I have not worked

Hi Ian. My apologies for not being able to contact anyone as I was unable to access any of Oneills pens due to someone blocking the ability to do that however, Joy and I have just returned from Melbourne after having the most fabulous holiday there fro some 10 days or so,you have no idea how these Aussies play up over Xmas and

New Year what with the Barmy Army etc being here the days have been full of Cricket. Can we wish you and yours a Happy New Year, Drive very carefully because no bugger else is what with Texting whilst driving etc I would take the Driving Licences of those people for a number of years not one because of their stupidity, whenever I see one I take their reg number and report them and it costs them $300, plus and that is the privilege of all in OZ.

Can I oneill at this point mention a sad event which takes place early in the oncoming January,Ian The Jock my very dear friend passed away very early in January quietly at his home , I was informed by his wife today,He was a gentleman in every way,a Master of the Internet,A fabulous writer an artist in the ways he chose to enhance his writings with different Inks, The way he lusted after every pen that was sent in a photo for him to review, I got him into buying Jinhao and Baoer and when I sent him photos of those in my collection because I am old {87} I promised him that I would see that he got them, sadly that wont happen now. May he Rest in Peace. Oneill

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
