Montblanc The Beatles Psychedelic Purple Ink

Recommended Posts

Today we have received the new Montblanc The Beatles Psychedelic Purple ink. The ink comes in the 50ml glass bottle.

The color is quite interesting, especially when compared to other purple inks. The Psychedelic Purple ink seems more

alive than the inks we have in our comparison.

Here is a first impression:

In our quick test the Pelikan 4001 Violet comes quite close to the Montblanc Psychedelic Purple.

Best regards

Thank you for this preview, very nice of you.

I believe since the ink is being released (and that we are in November) that means the pens arrival is imminent.

I got a letter in the mail last week from MB with pics of the new Beatles pens which states a launch date of Nov-Dec 2017 - but they're taking orders now so I'm guessing sooner rather than later.

Luckily the pics of the pens don't do much for me :)

Reminds me of waterman tender purple, I am viewing on a phone though.

Depending on the phone and your computer, the phone might have better color accuracy. I read that the iPhone X has one of the most color accurate displays ever produced.

How does it compare to MB Lavender Purple?

And to Lamy Unobtanium Dark Lilac?

I was just wondering the same thing....

Okay, I have Lavender Purple and 2 bottles of Dark Lilac (I also have 4001 Violet). So do I need this one as well? Maybe....

Fritz, thanks for posting the comparison. If for nothing else you've saved me from buying a bottle of the Storia....

Well, they got that right. I think it fits in well with the Beatle's psychedelic period. Looks quite vivid.

Thanks for the preview.

I'm a sucker for purple ink. Told myself months ago I wouldn't purchase any more ink, yet each week I keep buying my "last bottle". So this MB ink will be my last bottle ...

My Lavender Purple was running low and I was thinking of getting another bottle soon, but maybe I will try this one instead. I need something psychedelic with all the rain and gloomy weather these days in my corner of the world.

Sorry for the lacking comparison with Montblanc Lavender Purple. We just did a direct comparison which

we find gives a very good impression. The Psychedelic Purple is quite different from the Lavender Purple.

And to us, having grey, cold, rainy and windy weather quite uplifting. We are starting to like it a lot.

Looks like one of the R&K purples. Guess I’m one of the few leaning toward the Lavender Purple, but then I share Pravda’s temperatures with record highs.

Thanks for the more direct comparison. And, well, not....

Looks as if the husband's description of me is true... he tells people that I USED to collect pens, but now collect inks! (My wallet! My poor poor wallet! And I already bought 3 bottles of ink at OPS, and came home with two others from this year's Commonwealth show (plus a few samples) and I have all these OTHER inks and samples I haven't tried yet.... :headsmack:

Anyone know what the ETA for this ink will be here in the US?

Looking at the first picture it reminds me a lot to Pelikan 4001 Violet, but in the second picture it's closer to Waterman Tender Purple (which is my favourite ink).

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
