I just received a used Makrolon/Palladium Persona purchased via the web today. It is in quite nice condition with a moderately wet 14K fine nib and is a very good writer.

There is a silver flat metal disc (tassie?) at the end of the Makrolon pen body which spins freely and makes a soft rattling noise when I move the pen. Inside the pen, I can see what appears to be a silver metal stud which spins when the disc is turned. However, there is no obvious way to tighten anything.

I assume the jiggling is not normal. Is there a way to tighten this?

Heres something I just noticed. According to the descriptive booklet included in the pen box, the tassie, or solid barrel plug in Lamyspeak, is designed to be engraved. Would this not suggest it should therefore be removable somehow?B43661E5-12C5-42E7-8F77-F63D04881D57.jpeg 4C743390-BE02-494E-8E9D-4BCA37B9D7B2.jpeg

In case anyone is following this thread, I have found a resolution. I gave up trying to figure it out myself and took it to my local pen shop, Bertram’s Inkwell. Bert removed the barrel plug and showed me that it is attached via a metal stud that presses into a circular opening, but was originally secured by a small amount of adhesive.
