I Come From A Jungle!

Schadenfreude

Recommended Posts

Just want to let you know all that i must have been coming from a jungle!

I had never seen nor touched a Sheaffer in my whole life. Two days ago i decided to give Sheaffer a try and because i didnt want to jump into an expensive one, i purchased Sheaffer 100.

Today it arrived! Matte black version. I instantly fall in love with it! I can't believe it is that smooth! Now i can see myself collecting Sheaffer pens in the near future!

Big thanks to La Couranne Du Comte, although they included it with a ballpoint pen refill instead of cartridges :D

I just love it and can't stop writing! I stopped writing now because i am typing this, hihi!

I'm glad you're enjoying your pen (is that a case of reverse Schadenfreude?). I don't have a 100, but I do have various other Sheaffer pens and like them a lot.

I like the title of your post, too -- you should have been a pulp magazine editor :) .

I bought a red one with a chrome cap in a medium nib and then I liked it so much I bought a blue one, also with a chrome cap in a fine nib. Dare I say that they write smoother than my Lamy 2000? I think they are wonderful starter pens, especially for people who want a smaller pen. I use mine at work daily. Cheers!

I dont have lamy 2000.

I am actually used to pens with slightly thicker diameter and i realized that sheaffer 100, although the nib is smooth, has a thinner diameter.

How is the section in your fingers? I have Visconti, that has a section that can be slippery, but i have no problem: no slipping. But with Sheaffer? I must admit it is slippery for me, maybe because the diameter isn't right for me. I tried to cover the section with a transparent tape, but the pen itself is not comfortable in my hand :(

Great start! Now please, please go get a vintage Sheaffer and see how that will blow you away completely. Many are about the same price as the 100.

Using right now:

Visconti Voyager 30 "M" nib running Birmingham Streetcar

Jinhao 9019 "EF" nib running Birmingham Railroad Spike

Pelikan M1000 "F" nib running Birmingham Sugar Kelp

Hi all!

I have an update!

As much as I love the nib, the pen itself is not comfortable in my hand no matter what position I use. And my grip is the tripod grip.

If anyone has ever sandpapered the metal section, please let me know and show me the picture. I think the metal section is one of the reasons why it's not comfortable (besides the diameter of the body)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
