Is There A Pen Show In Michigan This Year?

Hello,

I was getting ready to place an order on Anderson Pens and when it came to shipping, it has the option to pickup at the Michigan Pen show. They show on their site that they will be at the Michigan Pen show on November 17-18 but the link they have is for a website that has not been updated in several years.

The newest website I can find for a Michigan pen show has a bunch of info from 2016 and just says they are talking about a 2017 show but nothing after that.

Anyone know of or have a link to the details for the 2017 show?

Thanks,

Frank

I found out who the show coordinator was and got a prompt reply by email so I'll answer my own question for benefit of any other people interested in a Michigan pen show.

When: Friday and Saturday, November 17-18 – weekend before Thanksgiving Day

Friday setup hours: 1:00pm – 3:00pm

Friday public hours: 3:00pm – 7:00pm

Saturday public hours: 10:0am – 6:00pm

Where: Four Points by Sheraton, same location as last year when hotel was called the Crowne Plaza Novi

Address: 27000 S. Karevich Drive. Novi, MI 48377

Note that the hotel is undergoing a name change. Last year during our pen show at the same venue it was called the Crowne Plaza Novi, but it was changed to its current Novi Oaks Hotel. By the time of our pen show in November it will be called Four Points by Sheraton.

Thanks for looking into this and posting the information. This isn't far from me. I'll probably attend on Saturday.

Regards,

Well, not making that one. It's the same weekend as something else that I really don't want to miss (and the show is in the wrong direction -- we'll probably be heading east for Thanksgiving at the end of that weekend).

I've kinda blown my "this year only" real shopping budget (okay a good chunk of that budget got blown on the two M405s ) but there are definitely some things on the wish list -- although repairs on some pens are a higher priority.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Too close to the Ohio pen show for me. I wish the Michigan show was in July during Cherry season. It would make a nice beginning or ending of a vacation.

Indeed - I would make the drive to Michigan were the show in the Summer!

I'm going to keep my enthusiasm going from the Ohio show and be at the Michigan show when the doors open on Friday.

I am definitely going to be there on Saturday. I am waking up early, driving up, driving back (only snow shall stop me!!!). I'm told this will be a smaller, more intimate show than Ohio. Looking forward to trying it on!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
