An Ad On Pages Here For Heiando Le Pen

As a matter of course I avoid ads that appear on web pages, including on this site. I do this by simply not noticing them - I look right past them. Today, however, there was one that caught my eye. I think many here might want to see this offering. I should probably put some disclaimer here, but will instead state that if this company sees some sales as a result of my posting I will gladly accept the gratuity of one of these pens. I think you'll see what I mean....

I had not seen anything of this company before this. I'm glad I looked. You may feel the same.

I saw the ads but didn't really pay much attention, even though having multiple ads running on the same page is a violation of AdChoices own policies, such as they are -- I've been feuding with them for the better part of two weeks over the spam content and specious "analytics"; the only way I got them to respond to Messenger on FB (they apparently don't bother to read all the complaints posted to their wall) was when I told them I had reported an ad they placed (on FPN as it happened -- and yes, I've also PM'd Wim over the matter) to the authorities for an actual violation of the law. And they got huffy because they thought I meant a different ad campaign and I said "Nope, the one that is advocating for something that is STRICTLY ILLEGAL in the Commonwealth of PA (I know because it's been in the news over the last couple of weeks). I had called Google because the AdWords support page link from the ad was borked and got told "Oh, we're AdWords, not AdChoices and I said "Yeah, well the link went to your borked page AND said "AdChoice by Google" and who do I talk to in order to have the ad removed and the guy gave me info on how to contact the Internet Crime Complaint Center.

But even though the ads you noticed (one is up even as I type) were technically violations, at least they were relevant to the site. But otherwise I mostly ignored them, simply because I can't use a maki-e pen (some are really beautiful works of art, but urushi and I do not get on well -- it's the same stuff that is in poison ivy and I'm HIGHLY allergic).

I too am allergic to poison ivy and have had a bad experience with a urushi coffe cup my wife had made for me, once it completely cures, it is safe. After my initial problem with my urushi coffee cup, I waited another three months before using it again and have had no problem since.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
