Pelikan Took My Wallet

I saw this MasterCard/Masterpass commercial last night, and it made me laugh thinking of how it probably applied to many of us who own Pelikan pens.

For me, Pelikan took my wallet last year when I saw the M800 Grand Place pen.

How about you-did Pelikan take your wallet?

Dial 0800-h-o-s-t-a-g-e.de when wild Pelikans circle low.....there are professional insurance adjusters at work...(unless they are on vacation. One must remember everyone in Germany has six weeks of vacation that by law must be taken; not paid off.). So Please Hold the Line. In the mean while do as you are told......

Renascence or Grand Place might hold them off.

There I'd just gotten my wallet out of intensive care because of a bad case of 'bent back', so was easy game to those crafty Pelikans because he was on crutches.

I hadn't seen that commercial, but it is hilarious! Thanks for that.

They sure did with the Renaissance Brown, and would have with the Royal Gold if my wallet had been bigger.

A great commercial ... thanks for posting!

My news channels seem to be full of ads for one's health/disabilities/frustrations. The voice-overs are speeded-up warnings of side effects that are worse than the ailment.

Hey, Rachel Maddow, have those ad reps get some sponsors with a sense of humor!

Haha, yes, I definitely relate. Most recently, with the Pelikan Green o' green which I am re-adding to my "flock." Hopefully they won't gang up on me and demand ransom...

Yeah, dropped um, (lots of money) last spring on an M400 in striated blue and slightly more (lots of money) on one of the M400 Stresemanns. Come to think of it, ALL the pens I own for which I paid in excess of $150 US are Pelikans....

That ad, by the way, is HILARIOUS! (Wonder how they got the bird to cooperate: smearing the wallet with fish maybe?)

I've gone one better. Pelikan not only has my wallet, they're my financial planner. Oddly, they have me investing heavily in fountain pens.

PELIKAN - Too many birds in the flock to count. My pen chest has proven to be a most fertile breeding ground.

I believe we share the same financial planner!

Apparently, after retirement I'll have to live on diet of ink!

Great commercial!

Very thankfully, I do not watch TV and so do not see the commercials.

I recently purchased a near new blue striated Pelikan 400. Since then, I have been hearing these faint knockings at my door. When I look out I don't see anything. One time I saw something but didn't know what it was. But my neighbor said there has been what appears to be a large bird stalking around my house. I wonder . . .

Anymore, we mostly record stuff to the DVR except for news, and then fast forward over the ads. And even when watching stuff live, we turn the sound off. My brother-in-law's wife was like "But you have to pay MORE attention to the ads that way...." Nope. That's why we have DVR (and TIVO before that -- I can just run stuff back to the beginning of the story.

I wish there was some similar option for internet ads. Just went through the BS last night after complaining (again) about ads for mens' underwear (and not, BTW, the brand my husband wears) showing up in email for various publications by F+W Media. I actually went online and complained to the company and said if I ever get "targeted" with another crotch shot ad from them I'll report them to the NYS Attorney General. So they told me how to opt out from Criteo. We'll see how well that *actually* works....

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
