What is the best way for making friends here? Writing to people and talking with them? Have you had any success meeting people through discussion forums like that and it turned into real friendship?

 

Anybody here from North Carolina? Especially Raleigh, NC?

I share the humanity of people, I’m like the rest of everybody and certainly I’m not better or higher than anybody in anything, regardless of what they believe in or don’t believe in. Why dont you check out the Triangle Pen Club? It is run by Dr Ross McKinney, who is a Faculty member at Duke Medical School. Look up Ross's website at : www.rosspens.com, or do a Google search for "Triangle Pen Club". You will enjoy meeting the good folks in the club.

Alternatively, you can join the letter writing group which is in the sub-forum named the "The Write Stuff".

The Triangle Pen Club is a great way to meet a nice bunch of people who know a thing or two about fountain pens.

 

Also, participating in forums and threads that interest you. Contributing, asking questions, and showing appreciation for others sharing their knowledge is a great way to introduce yourself and get to know people.

 

Another recommendation for next June is to attend the Triangle Pen Show out in Raleigh. Another nice group of people who know a thing or two about pens.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
