Is your fountain pen collection growing?

we've got you covered. We're currently developing software for managing a collection of fountain pens. Follow our progress here:

https://www.gothardpens.co.uk/software

Add yourself to the mailing list and we will drop you an email when the trial is available for download. The trial is fully functional, just limited to the amount of pens you can add. a full lifetime license with free upgrades costs £10 ($13.50)

Easy to use software for managing your fountain pen collection. Add all of your fine writing instruments, and filter your collection by their attributes while browsing. Keep a record of which pens are inked, and all of your inks details too. Future versions I hope to include a marketplace, where you can buy & sell pens, along with adding rare pens to your Wanted list, so that if by chance another member happens to advertise one as available, you'll be the first to know!

Nice idea, but I just use iPages (for lists of my pens by brand, and by which ones are currently) and iNumbers (for a spreadsheet of pens by price because I was curious as to how my spending habits went, and also charts of pens by color). And since both programs came pre-installed on my laptop, it didn't cost me anything. And the iPages lists I can do color coding (prices, whether they're currently inked, etc.

I suppose I should actually get photos done of all of them, for insurance value, etc. But that's kinda like work....

Will it be possible to import data into your program from other common formats (e.g., Excel or Filemaker Pro)?

Interesting idea.....I keep thinking myself on how to best organize my growing list of pens in my collection. As an IT professional , i have thought about writing my own code !

I like the idea but as a mac user I'm betting it won't be compatible. I use a modified spreadsheet from Figboot on Pens which works fairly well though it can't handle pictures.

I use a Mac Book Pro and I use GoogleDrive which takes me right into an Excel Spread Sheet. I've customized the heck outta my deal, from a Page for Fountain Pens, to a Page for Books ( I have a 40 Book Library related to Pens and repairing ), To a Page for Ink Wells, Desk Sets, Inks ( I have well over 200+ Bottles of inks ), Pen Cases, Misc, and NoteBooks. The only thing left is to go to Photoshop and pull the links for the pictures.....and plug those in next to the appropriate items.....This also downloads to my iPhone and iPad

I use a numbers spreadsheet with multiple tables for purchased pens, wishlist pens, inks (separate tables for bottles and samples with pictures for both), etcetera.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
