goodpens - those look great and I'm glad you used it!

M - I'm glad that they arrived.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Good morning Amber Lea,

I went by the post office on my way to work yesterday afternoon. Your 'Special Inkvitation' goodies had arrived - they and your artwork on the envelope brightened my whole day. I'm looking forward to sitting down and participating in this fun project.

Thank-you

  • 2 weeks later...

I sent the card to my 'single dad' brother-in-law.

He hosted a fantastic Canadian Thanksgiving

dinner for the whole family last weekend.

It was written with a Pilot Metropolitan F nib in

Sailor Sei-Boku nano blue black waterproof ink.

I really like the dark turquoise color.

Thanks to Okami's amazing gift package, I'm really inspired to try and create some art. I'm not sure how sucsessful I'll be, but practice makes perfect, right? Plus I konw a few folks that desperately need cheering up. If there's still a set left, I would love to be included.

Are you interested in any particular ink samples? I have a few Montblanc limited edition inks and a few inks that aren't too common. Would you prefer samples of that? Or more standard lines?

I'll PM you with my address just in case there's some available. Thanks in advance. I can't wait until I can pay it forward in some way to others. I was having a bad day until Okami's heavy box arrived. I squealed so loudly that I scared my two pups, and my mouth was hanging open for a good 5 minutes because I couldn't believe everything that was included. Now I want to use them not only to see if I'm actually creative or not, but more importantly to reach out to some friends that are having a rough go of things.

The content of my letter is rather personal so I'm not uploading a photo of that, but I did want to share the amount of effort I put into making the envelope stay closed! :D https://www.dropbox.com/s/5wqvrs6zbocghud/Screen%20Shot%202017-11-24%20at%2011.38.42%20PM.png?dl=0

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
