A Special Inkvitation

Recommended Posts

This weekend I found some wonderful paper invitations at a thrift store. As I used the first invitation, I discovered a new adventure for us.

PM me with your name and address and I'll send you an inkvitation kit.

The kit includes the metallic blue envelope, the invitation, the RSVP card and envelope, and the little ribbon. I will put everything into a different envelope.

In return, I ask that you:

  • Create the inkvitation and send it as a letter or an invitation to to ink to someone who needs cheering up. I'd suggest you can even use it as a Co-Razy-View (CRV). If you post pictures of your Inkvitations, I will send you another special letters / kudo.
  • Send the RSVP card back to me filled out with your inks. I will use the RSVP cards in the 2018 fade test.

As a special thank you, I will include some Tomoe River Paper and a sheet of FP friendly metallic paper.

I have twenty sets available.

I sent you one too. (Well, really I sent two because I could do that for 2 oz, but didn't include extra paper because of the weight).

Done and going out in tomorrow's mail.

Ink used: Diamine Cocoa Shimmer
Pen: Jinhao 992, F

The ink worked well, even on the shimmery blue envelope. The photo uploader won't let me attach my pics at a normal size/decent resolution, but here they are in their out-of-focus glory.

Thank you, Amberlea. You'll get a list/writing samples of currently inked pens. I sealed the envelope before remembering to take a picture, though.

Oh good to know. Yes they are aren't they? I look forward to seeing them again in scanned form.

I also should let you know the inkvitations came in the mail today - and that made me look here. Have been having a little computer trouble last week, so off the net for about a week starting last week monday; I did not see your post before just now...

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
