The Decograph Signature Pen Line combines thermoplastic and metal machined parts in a classically inspired form. It features a smooth writing Bock #6 nib in polished steel, with upgrades in nib material including Titanium and 14k Gold. It utilizes a Schmidt standard international cartridge converter, and ships with the converter as well as five black Monteverde ink cartridges with ink sourced from Austria. The pen is packaged in one of our unique, fully machined pen tubes. The tube is made from 6061 aluminum, the same grade of aluminum we use in our other pens. The package features our K Shield logo that has been milled into the upper portion of the pen tube. The amount of protection provided by the Decograph packaging might be considered overkill, but we wanted the package to be elegant and reliable while being an homage to our manufacturing past.

The Decograph is available in two standard colors:

  • Deco Black - a dark opaque black
  • Deco Green - a deep semi-transparent green

We have also released our first Decograph Special Edition - 1701. This special edition features a warm, charcoal grey body and cap with silver anodized aluminum clip and finials. Customers will be prompted to chose between several grip section options:

  • Deco Grey - a matching charcoal grey
  • Candy Red - a semi-transparent, bright red*
  • Volcano Red - striated black, red, and silver*
  • Showa Red - Red with swirls of black and silver/white*

The standard Decograph and Special Edition - 1701 is available for purchase now on our website. They will retail for $165.00 USD and ship with a polished steel nib, standard international converter, and 5 black standard international cartridges. They will ship in our Signature Pen Line machined aluminum pen capsule in lieu of a box. This packaging is unique to the Signature Pen Line, and is intended to protect the pen better than a common box would.

*These options are limited in number, available while supplies last

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
