Jammed Thread Cap To Body. Help, Please ...

I do the NYT in pen. I use two pens which are very close in looks and size: A Lamy 27 in black with gold furniture and a Geha Goldschwing in the same black with gold. The Lamy has a push-on cap, the Geha has a screw-on cap.

 

You see my problem. I pushed on the Geha screw-on cap. I can't move it al all.

 

I'm afraid to put too much pressure on either piece with padded pliers, and hot water didn't work.

 

Any one have experience with this problem?

It sounds as though that cap will be quite firmly fixed. I haven't had this happen but I find that dry heat loosens many things. A hairdrier will be hot enough. It may take several tries. Be patient and don't overheat. Quoting an expert - I can't remember which one - if the part you're heating is too hot to hold to your bottom lip, it's too hot. Give it a moment to cool before you do anything else.

Thank you, eachan. Dry heat and patience did the trick. Goldschwinge now back at the NYT X word. Its' only limitation is my ability.
