Hi! Who's registered to the London hub? Have you been contacted by the hubmaster yet? This is the first time I've registered for London since I'm traveling there and need to plan my schedule. Cheers!

Not heard a thing yet, nor had the regulars at the London Pen Club when we met last Saturday. I actually emailed the Pelican Hub contact address yesterday asking for more information.

Hope that you guys hear soon. The best thing is to email hubs@Pelikan.com if you have any concerns.

I did and got a reply today with a name and email address. I've posted the former on the London Pen Club reddit area to see if anyone recognises it.

Oh dear, not sounding great news! That's going to be 51 disappointed people unless we hear something soon.

I chose my user name years ago - I have no links to BBS pens (other than owning one!)

I've been in touch with this year's hub master, and he is, as I suspected, having difficulty in finding a venue. I've made a couple of suggestions about venues, and also asked that he sends out an email to all registered with an update.

Well done, many thanks for doing that, VftL. The place we've used for the past two years ( Ruba room at the Hilton near London Bridge) is at least a private place for us and happy to have us, I guess, even if it is a little dark and noisy.

I'll have a think too.

From what I can understand, the Hilton asked for a very, very substantial deposit this year.

That's a shame. But understandably not fair or expected of the Hubmistress/master to have to take a financial risk on this.

Still thinking .....

Same problem that I'm having in Philadelphia, USA.

To be honest, that was the major factor in me not volunteering as a hub master again. I really struggled to find a venue in 2015, and it hasn't got any easier.

I've also contacted a couple of places to see if they can help.

I just got the email today too! Such a relief...

Looking forward to meeting you all there. I don't currently own a pelikan so I am looking forward to an education on these pens. :D

Wow... I am a first time Hub master... (Actually... Hubmistress... lol) and for whatever reason my first choice venue was very happy to have us. I spoke with last year Hubmaster and he told me he had a hard time finding a venue too. Must be beginners' luck,, ;)

We are close to 70 (I asked for RSVP's.. approx 60 registered applicants and 10 guests)... so it should be fun!!!

Congrats on finding a Venue and getting ready !!! :D

I'm just hoping it lasts a lot longer than the given times - I've been told it will - as even with working from home (already arranged) it will still be ~18:30/19:00 before I get there. Glad the hub master managed to find some where, sounds like it was hell to organise.

Good to hear! I am getting excited already for Scriptus next month. It gets better every year. I am hosting the Hub at the other London, down the 401 from you, as our previous hubmistress is looking after the event in Cambridge. So much going on in our area!! We were able to book the same venue as the past two years but will see how it goes. We meet every Saturday morning so the Hub is sort of our club banquet for the year when people bring partners or guests. So more of a social evening.

Sounds Wonderful!!..

And the same here.... I think at least a quarter of registered Pelikan attendees are regulars on our monthly Pens and PInts... the rest have come once or twice, but are not complete strangers..

It is definitely a social event.....

Scriptus will be fantastic and the Scriptus ink will be to die for... (of course.. I am totally biased... LOL) ;)

Heinz mentioned when he visited recently that there is a special 150 Scriptus pen available at the show but might be pricey.

I have not been active on FPN for sometime...but will make the effort again. I dig your reference to Cyber6 the animated show. Quite enjoyed that one when it was on Teletoon some years ago.

Good luck on Friday. The venue called me tonight to confirm...

Say hi to Stephen and Aziza if they show. Ask him about the suit he wore in DC lol!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
