Rosewood Fountain Pen

The Rosewood from 3952 Fountain Pens. The 2-tone Bock nib is exceptional. The merchant has a sale on this and 2 other models, genuine abalone sea shell and the X800. (There's an additional discount of 10% and that extra discount ends Monday.) After my first purchase from Pen Chalet years ago and continuing to the present time, have learned why their customers have so much praise for this Retailer. They truly care about their customers and do everything to ensure satisfaction.

Thank you for the "head's up," about this pen & I just wanted to agree with your assessment of Pen Chalet.

I recently asked, if they would check about stocking a new ink from a company they already offer & received a prompt reply, letting me know when it will be available. (This is NOT the first time they have added new colors, when I have requested & I appreciate their willingness to do same.) Today, I again messaged them about another ink that seems elusive to the US market & again received a reply that they would be happy to inquire with their distributor & appreciated my thinking of them. I have never been disappointed in any transaction I have made with them & am glad to hear from another customer who appreciates their "user friendly nature!"

Uh oh, an articulated clip on what looks suspiciously like a Chinese kit pen.

Is there a plastic cap liner?

Is the cap air tight so the nib and feed don't dry out?

Does the cap post squarely on the end of the barrel or do you have to fiddle with it so it isn't crooked?

Thanks, David

Hi!

Has anyone had any issue with the nib/feed/metal middle section becoming disengaged and stuck in the threaded cap section from the barrel itself with the 3952 Rose Wood? I just received my pen from Pen Chalet yesterday (Thanks Pen Chalet for the quick turn-around on shipping/delivery since i started ordering with you) and was half way through the day using it when this occurred. Other than that, the writing experience was really nice with the Bock nib. I almost forgot about my daily writers (Platinum Procyon, Sailor Realo, and Aurora Optima fountain pens) which I trade off during the week.

Thanks!

Evan

Are you talking about the unscrewing the body off with section still inside the cap when you are trying to unscrew the cap off? This is kind of common for pens with metal section/body threads. If that's the case, one thing you can try is just wrap some plumbing tape around the section/body threads to increase the friction.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
