Lamy Unobtanium 2016/17 Le Ink Piffle Package Petrol And Dark Lilac

Yes, this includes Lamy Petrol AND Dark Lilac!

A VERY generous FPNer has gone to a lot of effort to make this happen. I am only the shipper and poster, the mysterious benefactor has purchased, packaged and paid for CONUS shipping for of all these wonderful PIFs.

I'm going to do this in three rounds, each round will have ten recipients.

Here is what is in the package:

A sample vial of 2016 LE Lamy Dark Lilac & a sample vial Or cartridge of 2017 LE Lamy Petrol. This means that some will receive 2 sample vials (one of each ink) and others will receive a sample vial of Dark Lilac and a Lamy Petrol cartridge. What the recipients will receive will also be random. Though if you have a Lamy pen, you can include that in your post so that I try and distribute the cartridges to people who have Lamy pens.

In a protective pocket:

  • Staples Bagasse lined (no longer available) (IF=ink friendly, thin OS=one side use)
  • Rhodia graph (IF, TS=two side use)
  • Tom Bihn lined/graph/plain (Not IF, demonstrates feathering issues)
  • Whitelines (IF, and TS depending on ink and nib)

To be eligible, you must have 100 posts. Post your reply here. This round will end on September 1 at midnight. I will choose the ten winners via a random number generator.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Why is it only available to FPN'ers with 100 posts ? Just wondering!

I suspect it's to limit the PIF to actively contributing members.

YES!

Now, you still have time to post 89 meaningful comments. (I have made more than 100 posts in a single night, so I know you can do it in more than a week).

A novel way to do a PIF! Please include me.

Hello, is this pif restricted to CONUS? Happy to cover postage if I can be considered (I'm in the UK), I was gutted to miss out on the Lamy petrol. Regardless, thanks to the mystery poster who generously offered this.

There is a separate thread for the UK offering.

I would love to be included here as I love to try different papers that I can't usually find, plus the option of sampling both of these Lamy LE inks is such a bonus. :D

I currently have a CONUS shipping address that lasts through September, so I hope I can enter on this thread assuming it will be mailed in order to arrive before the end of the month, in the event I am lucky. :)

Curious, what is the CONUS that goes around here for where things will ship? I have never seen it until I got into fountain pens and found this place. Unfortunately, I don't think I have the 100 posts to join, and I'm not just going to search out places to post to get in.

CONUS means USA except Hawaii I think.

It's short for Continential US. It excludes Alaska and Hawaii, although as it is used now most people mean USA only. It's because our mail costs is so high. To ship one bottle of Lamy to Germany, non-airmail, it cost me US$ 24.00 :(

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
