Ink Hand Cleaner? Inknix Replacement?

Recommended Posts

I am running out of my bottle of InkNix. Apparently it's no longer sold. That stuff works great.

Anyone have a good replacement? (Lava soap doesn't cut it, at least for ink)

thnx,

Good old SOS pads and a little water works great. Haven't found an ink they couldn't remove yet. Cheap too.

I just replace my hand when I get ink on it. Good enough for the Kingslayer, it's good enough for me.

Actually, just live with the ink stains like a badge of honor for a day or two. Haven't found any particularly good product yet other than time.

Lava Soap

This always works for me.

Amodex works on people, clothes, carpets, with no apparent side effects or other collateral damage. That is a good start.

Lava Soap

I use this every day, with good results.

I have used the Ink Zap and it works when you put some on wet hands or add a little water. It bleached a pair of my brown shorts, but took ink out of a beige carpet with no ill effect.

I thought Amodex was just for fabric, not for skin. For hands, I have used Kresto Hand Cleaner, the stuff John Mottishaw recommends. I usually just try to wash stains off as soon as they appear and then wash with hand soap and water. I use Kresto for major skin stains. It is just okay. Not great. It sounds like Ink Zap is worth a try.

Green Scotchbrite pad and De-Solv-it hand cleaner works for me but most of the time I just leave the ink to wear off...a badge of honour no less :-)

Wow - you all must have skin like leather. Pumice, sandpaper, coarse files, belt sanders, rasps, grinding wheels, lathes, bleach, ammonia, acid, alcohol. I think someone said a rotary hammer??

No one has mentioned dynamite.... yet.

I'm sure they take all the ink off, but maybe a little rough for my tender hands. But thanks for all the suggestions.

Maybe Anderson will bring some InkZap to the SF show for us more civilized types.......

I think Amodex is mainly marketed as being for fabric, but it works on skin as well. They also mention that it works on skin on their website. I've never used Kresto before, but might give it a try just to have an alternative.

I've got a blog!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
