Hi, Folks!

This is an undocumented Lady Sheaffer pen c. 1959. This 5 3/8 inch long clipless model features the same etched satin pattern on a silver color finish as on the Lady Sheaffer XXI Moiré. The cap and barrel are decorated with a gold filigree-like band with a row of stars inside. The nib section is Ivory, Sheaffer’s number 5 White color. The nib is unhallmarked gold and the section is screen printed MED over $15.00 over F.T.I., the same price as the Lady Sheaffer XXI Moiré pens. It's possible this is a prototype or a short run model.

Hi, Folks!

This is an undocumented Lady Sheaffer pen c. 1959. This 5 3/8 inch long gold plated clipless model is decorated by what looks like hand cut ring chasing using a lathe or cutting wheel. Note the irregular cuts on the surface. The nib section is Jet Black. The nib is palladium silver and the section is unmarked. It's possible this is a prototype or a short run model.

Hi Folks!

This is a Lady Sheaffer XVII Brocade Skripsert cartridge fountain pen c. 1958-1960. Brocade is a fabric woven with an elaborate design, especially with a raised pattern. This 5 3/8 inch long pen features an etched brocade pattern on a silver color finish and a (probably) chrome-plated center band with a raised ring filled with clear rhinestones. Jet nib section, Sheaffer’s number 11 Black color, and a gold nib. This example has some missing rhinestones, a two tone gold nib and some finish loss spots on the cap and barrel. Original price was $15.00 for the fountain pen and $7.50 for the matching pencil.

Thank you for the Sheaffer photos. I have been using your web resources to learn about a recent purchase of a Sheaffer Crest that appears to be a Deluxe from 1947-48. I appreciate have your information.

These pens are lovely, and I have a couple of them in mind for future purchase on PSP. Y'all's photos are amazing.

I don't know that I love the "diamond ring" ones though. I am guessing they are meant to suggest a ring on a lady's finger, but they seem kind of gaudy to me.

True, but after more research, I discovered the ones with a lever fill that had the wrap around life time nib , I found interesting and particularly given the 1940 era model. No interest in a snorkel at present.

Hi Folks!

This is a shot of the twenty standard model Lady Sheaffer pens photographed for the “Lady Sheaffer 1958–1964: A Gallery” article in the upcoming Summer 2020 Pennant. The Lady Sheaffer advertisement in the May 1958 issue of Vogue was the first by Sheaffer in a fashion magazine. Ads were also run in Mademoiselle, Life, Reader’s Digest, The New Yorker, Ebony, This Week, and Parade. Newsreels were provided to movie theaters and television stations. Elaborate counter and window displays were distributed to traditional dealers and fashion counters. There is much more about these pens in the article. Our plan is to show these gorgeous pens full size. The Summer 2020 Pennant is expected to mail out by the end of July.

Hi Guys

I hope everyone had a a beautiful and safe Christmas 🤶

I thought I'd show you one of my pressies to myself - I know its a model 918, but apart from that I've hit a brick wall.  I'm sure that one of you will know what years they were produced? I also bought a VI paisley and periwinkle example too.........

Bringing this thread back to life. Just found what I think is a Lady Shaeffer Paisley if @PenHero’s info is correct. The nib is a little tarnished but I’m hoping some jewelers cloth will bring back the shine.

Came with some cartridges too, which I am rehydrating.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
