Hello Everyone!

I need some help> My wife and I are in possession of two Visconti Homo Sapiens, one with a 18K gold nib and the other with a 1.3mm palladium nib. We have had the pens for almost two years and we have changed lots of nibs through the visconti distributors here in Ontario, Canada, but we have never been able to find a properly working nibs. The distributors at this point do not want to have anything to do with us. I have never found a nibmeister here around in Toronto, so I need you guys help to find a good nibmeister where I can send my nibs to be fixed, so I do not feel I spend a lot of money in pens that do not actually work properly. At this point I do not care if it is in Canada or USA or Europe, just please help me find someone who can actually help! Thank you very much you all

Luca

I found Restorers Art that is in Canada. No affiliation though, and I've never used this service. :)

Instead of typing nibmeister into Google, I tried nibsmith instead. See what other results you might get, because the question may have been asked on FPN before. Sending it to the US will cost a lot, but Dan Smith is good. No affiliation to him either. :)

The first issue is to find out if you are capable of actually describing what it is you want. Unless you can describe the issue and what it is you want it's unlikely anyone can resolve the issue.

This is true. -_-

My problems are simple: both nibs are misaligned and sloppy. The gold nib has also baby bottoms and is overflowing, while the 1.3mm is dropping ink

It doesn't sound like that would be a really difficult fix. Have you considered checking out some online videos and aligning the tines yourself, then smoothing them just a tiny amount with a nib smoothing board?

Overflowing and dropping ink are unlikely to be nib related. You can align nibs yourself with a nice 10x loupe. And baby bottom is far too often simply used as an excuse instead of reality.

The first issues are most likely an air leak in the system, a seal or gasket. The best way to get that fixed is the manufacturer. There are people that can also work on those two issues. Terms like "sloppy nibs" though really carry no informational content. Nobody can be expected to even guess what a sloppy nib means.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
