List Of Sailor Pro Gear Colors

My collection of progears. Just added a black and silver wih naginatatogi nib. The only ones that are really unusual are the ones that are two and three above the clear / green shumibun realo, "Aria" from joyful2 and "uradensetsu" from Usagiya. And both of those, at the time of this post, are still available (in stock). AND, both of the vendors will allow purchase remotely. Joyful2 will send by Takkyuubin cod and all of the usagiya store original items are available through a net shop called rukaruka on rakuten. Aria is a completely translucent red that leans towards purple, and comes with a bottle of exclusive ink that is a purplish wine red. Uradensetsu comes with an usagiya ink called kinojou no akaoni, which, for all of you Athena akane fans out there is possibly the closest substitute. And it's available now.

Nice, although I personally wouldn't want to collect more than 1 instance of the same pen. Is that blue pen 6th from bottom the sky slim?

It's the regular one. All of these are the regular size. Btw, I'd trade any one of them for one of the half transparent white ones from Takashimaya. Anyone game for that?

I was confused about this but now I am confused on a higher level.

  • 1 year later...

I realise I am joining this thread a little late... but as a pen enthusiast with a particular passion for Sailor pens (I own 10...!) I thought I would add that Sailor also do pens specially for T.Y. Lee's famous shop in Taipei. Earlier this year, I happened to be in Taiwan on business and found a pro gear 21K gold demonstrator. It writes wonderfully.

More recently, Sailor are also producing pens for the Fountain Pen Hospital in New York: my kind son, who works there, bought me the Sailor 1911 Butterscotch large version (which I am eagerly awaiting him to bring home for Christmas).

I think it would probably be impossible to have an entire collection of Sailor pens given their special manufacturing for so many Japanese and foreign pen shops. Definitely not something that one should try!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
