Can't wait!

But sadly, today was my first time looking at FPN in many months and so I'm very late learning that Susan Wirth will not be with there this year. She was one of the first people I met at my first show years ago (after Danny & Pakman) and I always looked forward to visiting her table.

Danny, you should be.... :D

Looking forward to seeing old friends and new!

So, what's your point?

(Mine is a flexible F.)

Woop! Can't wait to meet up with all the fantastic pen folks in Dallas this year! It's going to be a great time and great show. Trying to go through my pen stash now and see what I am willing to release back into the wild!

So, please forgive this "beginner" question, but I am still new to the fountain pen community...Which of the vendors do grinding/custom nib work? I believe I recognize indy-pen-dance as one, but are there any others? I'm hoping to attend on Friday and I may be interested in having a nib ground to a stub or cursive/rounded/easy-to-use italic.

Indy-Pen-Dance would be a good choice. Come EARLY to get your name on Linda's list.

I wish Mike-at-Work was going to be there! I have a M1000 that needs his touch on the nib!

Seconded. Linda does great work, but plan on getting in line early for her services...

PAKMAN, looking forward to the 3rd Hawaiian shirt picture!

I'll be there before 10!

Got a new one for the show this year! Danny and I should be at the same place as our table has been for the last few years.

Does Inky-Pen-Dance get all booked up for both days by the end of Friday? I can only attend on Saturday but am able to come early that morning, and I was hoping to get nib work done at the show.

Also, will there be other vendors doing nib grinding services at the show?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
