It’s been a bit quiet recently after all of the activity surrounding the recent arrival of all the new demonstrators, So, I thought we’d have a bit of fun with the…….
CHINESE FORUM, HUAHONG BELTER GIVEAWAY, FUN CAPTION COMPETITION
Ok, it’s a bit of a long winded title, but it’s just a bit of fun after all.
I was going to put it on the pif forum, but thought it better to just keep it here, it is where the Chinese pen action is after all.
Here’s the deal..
A while back, a few of us stumbled upon a pen by Huahong with no name, which was really, very, very good, in fact, it was an absolute Belter, and that is the name that it came to be known by.
It came in a blue capped version (Blue Belter) and a red capped version (Red Belter) and our own BobJe even lauded the merits of this pen, and other Chinese pens in a Pen magazine article, however by the time the article was released, the pens were very thin on the ground, and have now all but disappeared, meaning that few folk got the opportunity to get one of these pens, which to be quite honest, were astonishing for the ridiculously small amount of money they were costing.
So, while they were available I bought 3.
2 Red Belters and a Blue Belter.
I’ve ground one of the Red Belters to a fine stub and use it almost daily.
The Blue Belter is also in regular use as I still love it, and It writes with a considerably broader line than the standard Chinese fare, and I love it too.
Which leaves the other Red Belter, which has a standard nib (broadish like the Blue Belter) and this is the prize up for grabs in the aforementioned CHINESE FORUM, HUAHONG BELTER GIVEAWAY, FUN CAPTION COMPETITION.
Here’s the pen.
In this pic, it’s the uncapped pen on the bottom
I suppose we really should have a runner up as well, shouldn’t we?
The runner up gets this fun pen.
iT'S An Inoxcrom “Tintin, Cigares Du Pharaon” fountain pen.
This was probably a promo item when the film was released, which was given to me by a friend as he knew I was “Into pens”. I’ve stuck a Jinhao converter in it, and it writes well.
The rules and criteria of the competition are simple.
- You should not already own one of these pens, as that just wouldn’t be fair, and the intention is for someone who didn’t get one to give it a go. So Bob ….you’re out. You can still play, but you won’t win.
- You must do a “Show & Tell” of your pen when you get it, basically just to let us all know what you think of it.
And That’s It
I will post to anywhere at all, but cannot guarantee how long it will take to get to you, postage will be by Royal Mail standard (UK) or Royal Mail international Standard (non UK). I once sent a pen to Brazil that took 8 weeks, so depending on where you are, delivery times may vary.
So! How do you win?
I will post a picture below, and all you have to do is provide a suitably funny caption for the pic.
I’ll run it for a couple of weeks to give everyone who wants to play the opportunity to enter.
The caption that gives me the greatest laugh, and need for a change of undergarmentry wins, simple as that.
We’ll then have a vote, or have nominations for which caption should be runner up, and I’ll send the pens out to the winners.
So here we go.
The photo will be of my wee best pal, Hannah, our Cocker Spaniel, who gives us many laughs on a daily basis and has been the subject of much hilarity just by being herself.
As you can see from my avatar, she is normally a vision of cute well groomed gorgeousness, however, like us all, she has an occasional off day.
Oh! And you can have as many goes as you like……..Fill your boots.
