Waterman Lady Patricia Ink-Vue

Sadly, after sending my pen out for some rehabbing it was discovered that the internals were just shot and the pen will likely never fill more than 20% of the sac capacity. Still going to try to use it if I can!!

How sad? What would cause that? Even with a sac change? Mine was broken at the ink view barrel and sac barrel. Fountainbel refabricated a joint and resaced the pen. Good as new. What exactly was the diagnosis on your's

I'm wondering this too. Sometimes a restorer will neglect to replace the seal at the end of the barrel, leading to partial fills. But short of, say, a cracked nipple or collar (both of which can be replaced) I can't imagine what would cause this.

Also, worst case, you should be able to use it as an eyedropper. Which is not too bad really, for all practical purposes.

Sac? I'm confused. Mine fills directly into the barrel.

I think she means the sac that acts as a bulb filler with help of the lever to pull the ink into the barrel. This pen has a complicated filling system!

Hi, Folks!

This is a Waterman Lady Patricia Ink-Vue Sunset (red pearl) fountain pen c. 1936. In the Christmas, 1936 Pen Prophet, Waterman announced the Lady Patricia Ink-Vue as a new model, selling for $5.00 with matching pencils for $3.00. They were initially offered in Mist (grey), Sunset (red pearl) and Black Lace, each having a diamond pattern ink-vue barrel. The diamond motif continued with the gold filled clip, cap band, and lever. The flat cap top is a gold filled disc that attaches the clip. The Ink-Vue lever is a reverse split lever that pumps a short sac in the back of the barrel to fill the pen. These pens are 4 1/4 inches long. Nibs are 14 karat gold Number 2 size. The trim appears to be chrome plated. The nib is stamped WATERMAN’S over 14K over IDEAL over CANADA over 2. The lower barrel where the lever is has the imprint which reads WATERMAN’S over MADE IN next to (Waterman Globe Logo) next to CANADA over FOUNTAIN PEN. This unrestored pen’s upper barrel is opaque from dried ink.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
