The power of a bilingual wife has revealed:

fpn_1501356828__elbphilharmonie_hamburg_

fpn_1501356923__montblanc_elbphilharmoni

From the related article (after auto-translated):

After Montblanc announced its partnership with the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie in April and will be the main sponsor for the next three years, the company has now created a special edition of the Meisterstück 149 fountain pen. The cap of the writing instrument made of black precious resin decorates an artistic engraving of the Elbphilharmonie. The red gold-plated feather decorates with the outline of the new Hamburg landmark. The special edition is rounded off by a black package with a sketch of the building.

The writing instrument is available exclusively at the Hamburg Montblanc Boutique at the Neuer Wall and the Elbphilharmonie Plaza Shop.

Thank you for going to the trouble of posting this information. It is interesting to see these rare pens. I am pretty sure I have read about Paris and Berlin having similar city specific MB pens too, but cannot find the information source now!

To Donor Pen : you will find here explanations about the French special edition :

https://plumeetbille.com/accueil/697-les-splendeurs-de-paris.html

I found this Hamburg version really nicer than the Paris version. The different Paris' monuments are engraved in the ring of the cap and I don't like really much the nib they did. And for the Paris version it is a version with cartridge or convertor so not for me.

You have some pictures of the fountain pen here: https://morastylos.com/stylos/neufs/montblanc/plume/145-chopin-splendeurs-de-paris.html

As much as I hate the idea of owning a pen that's associated with a political event (and especially with a politician whom I happen to hold in low regard), I must say that this one looks absolutely gorgeous. I can't take my eyes off it. :puddle:

Yes the nib and cap are really amazing :) It is a shame that the one of Paris is not as much as beautiful this one.

Well, honestly, I exactly don't like the nib so much. There is something missing there, it looks so empty for me.

When I was in Hamburg two months ago im the MB boutique I was offered this pen (they were so proud), but I was absolutely not happy about that and I went home with a Heritage Tropic Brown instead. That was a good buy :-)

By the way, I am not paying attention to the fact whether Mrs Merkel or who ever is associated with these toys :-).

You never go wrong with a Montblanc...Please, have a look at my page www.nibbinibnibb.com.Thank you!

~ Cyrille:

Thank you for providing this link.

From your link, and that provided by ThierryfromFrance, it appears that the Special Edition “Splendeurs de Paris” was issued as both a ballpoint pen (“bille”) and a 145 cartridge/converter fountain pen (“plume”).

This information is useful to me as I've recently been learning about the various city-related Montblanc Special Editions.

Being shown one of these tomorrow... Not sure if I like the cap, but the nib looks lovely. Depends on price to see if I can be tempted.

Nah, thanks I will pass

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
