A few years ago, I bought a pen very similar to these pens (almost identical to the first one, but it had one color bubble, not three):

http://www.ebay.de/i...utorefresh=true

At a flea market. I LOVED it and used it every day... until it was stolen off my desk. I have been searching for it ever since, and only recently had the bright idea of asking my family for help. They searched for it in german terms (bought it at a german flea market with german family members) and my uncle found the above results. I can't seem to purchase it on Amazon, as it says it's out of stock and the last purchase was in 2016, and I can't even find it for sale anywhere else.

To me it's really special because it's not one of those slider-pens, but instead uses gravity to choose the color it sends out. I've had bad experiences with the slider type getting stuck all the time. As I am still in school, I take a LOT of notes and like to color code for clarity, and I loved having this type of pen, and really miss it.

Does anyone know what it is called? Or how I could possibly find it and buy it somewhere? Or even maybe have one they're willing to sell? I am rather poor but I'd like to at least give it a try.

Thank you and I hope I didn't do anything wrong! This is my first post here, though I've read posts here for a while.

Hello and welcome to FPN. :W2FPN:

The Wedo one on Amazon isn't available, so why not buy the Pelikan on eBay instead? They seem to call it a 4 in 1. So I guess it's a 4 in 1 ballpoint pen. I've only seen them with sliders.

You can't have a Want to Buy Classified Ad on here until you're a Gold member and you've been here for 30 days and have 30 posts. By then the one on eBay will have ended. So if you want that one, get it now.

I too share your liking for pens with those gravity selection system. Not only that it's very convenient, it's just feel so cool and high-tech, and is certainly a conversation starter.

If you're looking for good quality German stuff, Lamy, Rotring and Staedtler does make them, although in a more limited amount, I think. As they are not as common as their other, "more usual" pens.

The Lamy is the Lamy 2000 multi pen. I haven't tried one myself, but it's something placed quite high in my to-buy list. It's a design classic, but perhaps it's not what you're looking for?

The Lamy Tri pen is also similar, but that's only 2 color + pencil.

The Rotring, on the other hand, is something more similar to your old pen. I'm not actually sure of the entire range of model names, as they are not as well documented as, say, the Rotring mechanical pencils, but I think they're generally Rotring Quattros. I usually see then sold as simply Rotring 4 color ballpoint, though (Trio is the 3 color version). They're still in production and Amazon stocks them, but you can also search for vintage versions as there are many kinds of them.

The Staedtler is called the Avant Garde. They are the newest of the 3, and and also the cheapest. They come in several versions, and color. The silver light version seems quite similar to what you're looking for. If your budget is small, I think this one's the only one suitable, and since they're a new model, I think it'll be easier to find as well. This model's actually new for me, and at that price it's definitely going to my wish list. Not many of these type of pen under $20.

(Note that despite being German, the Rotrings and Staedtlers are made in Japan I think.)

I assume you want a practical new pen with 4 color bp and gravity rather than slider.

I don't know your budget. If you move into Pelikan, you are moving into real money. If you look in vintage, you may find some for less than you might expect but you may have the problem of finding refills.

I have a number of new and vintage 4 color BPs, both slider and gravity, but I am collecting them for manufacturer examples rather than use.

I think you are better off waiting for the WEDO to come back into stock, Or, may be this will work:

OR  ...

Maybe this!!!

Same manufacturer, slider rather than gravity but at the price it is worth a try!

https://www.amazon.d...AKR8XB7XF&psc=1

I buy a number of articles from Ebay.de and find them as reliable as Ebay.com.

The styling is a classic 30s-40's design very reminiscent of FEND of Pforzheim.

AS A MATTER OF FACT ...

I just bought one!  $8.50 including shipping.

... and a very good buy it is ... comes in a coffin box ...

Weight is substantial to size and construction seems good. Style and detail is very like the FEND models of the 50s.

A heck of a buy!
