Has anyone purchased OR tried a Nakaya with Metal Threads? I am curious about the added weight.

I bought one and found it noticeably heavier than the same pen with ebonite threads. It was still relatively light (ebonite usually is) and was well balanced and comfortable. I did weigh it on a kitchen scale and on a "percent heavier" comparison to ebonite threads found the difference to be numerically large. I no longer remember the exact weights I obtained but I assume they can be found on nibs.com.

Metal threads on a Nakaya, somehow just seems, I don't know...just seems aesthetically wrong. Just my very very humble opinion.

There is always a difference in weights and dimensions between two of the same model Nakaya or Danitrio or Platinum Izumo or Eboya or almost any hand made item.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning.
