Hamburg Difficulties - Any Suggestions?

I know, it is a bit surprising. If indeed the nib looks 'used' after two weeks, it is probably a production defect.

In any case, as you and Chrissy have suggested have begun searching for MB contact info. all i came up with is 'contact us' on their website. Is there a more direct venue?

Yes there is. :) You should bear in mind that the beginning of the email address starts with the Christian name full stop Surname (no spaces.) Then, because the CEO is in Hamburg, it would have to end in montblanc.de. If you need more of a clue please send me a PM. ;)

Did you get a stamped warranty book when you purchased the pen?

 

Instead of getting the nib replaced you could always get it tweaked, this is a lot cheaper.

Signed, stamped and all and still - nada.

What date did you take it into the Boutique for a nib exchange?

 

The nib exchange is offered on non-LE pens within 6 weeks of purchase.

 

So unless you first asked for it to be exchanged before 30 March 2017, they would appear to have every right to refuse to exchange it for free (although I do note that some people here have successfully had their nib exchanged after 6 weeks).

 

The fact that the pen is used is irrelevant, but on the specific facts here around the dates, MB are not necessarily in the wrong to swap the nib free of charge if you came to them after 30 March.

You have missed the fact that this is a Hitchcock FP SE and that the warranty booklet states that a free nib exchange applies during it's first year like all WE and LE pens.

Chrissy, already fully versed in the details :D is correct. It is a LE with a 12 month option. Nevertheless, the pen was indeed purchased mid Feb, arrived in a sealed box around beginning of March, and passed on to the boutique for repair a number of weeks later. Upon arrival the booklet was subsequently sent back to the Netherlands where it was stamped with the date of purchase.

I sent a writer's edition in for a nib swap this past March days before its one year was up. I had used it quite a bit however I did make sure to clean it really well first. They swapped it out with no charge and no questions.
