Well swell, I see that Anderson Pens now has Akkerman Ink in 120ml bottles. Guess I have to send my brother over there.

Six colors.

Depends on the position your phone was in when you took the photo. Which is why I always want to download pix to my laptop before uploading them here -- otherwise they'd be upside down half the time.

Will they spill?

Don't be silly -- they're not the old Polaroids that you had to shake before you peeled the top layer off to see the picture.... :P

Phone was upright. Pic was upright. And it was downloaded to my laptop before posting and was upright.

I love my original 150ml Akkerman bottles, now long since sold out. They are satisfying commodious :-)

No spillage. The lids must have been on tight...

Nice, those are great inks. The bottles are so quirky and functional.

(Though each and every time I reach for those inks I look at the ink level and kind of panic, forgetting that there's a non-trivial amount of ink in the "head" of the bottle.)

In addition to the groovy bottles, the Dutch Masters inks are freaking fabulous.

I have samples of a few of the Dutch Masters line, but the only one I've tried so far is Ruisdael's Stormachtig Blauw (the other ones I got samples of were the Cerulean blue and the Hals Old Brown Neck). And I must say the color is definitely interesting. On some paper it looks blue-black, but on others it has a purple undertone to it. Hoping that the DM series aren't LE inks, and that at least Stormachtig Blauw will still be available when I can afford to shell out $38 for one bottle of ink....

Anyone have experience with the lighter green DM ink (I forget the name of that one)?

That's what's in the fourth bottle on the bookshelf. It's #10 van Huysum's Sapgroen (Sap Green). It's an awesome color. It is a bit light, but very vibrant.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
