I've never heard of a Montblanc pen having the word 'double' on it.  :o

If a pen was referred to as a Montblanc 'double' by a vendor, I would assume the vendor meant it was a copy. i.e. a look alike or 'double'

...or the fact that the nib is BB (double broad).

When they have the sticker on though, it says BB not double broad.  :D So the word 'double' wouldn't appear on the pen, or more specifically on the 'cap or other metallic parts of the pen'.

i apologize, all posts guesses are wrong.

Double on metal cap refers to a double layer metal, often a brass base and a gold mix on top, sometimes vermeille (but in that case is clearly explained). You may refer as rolled or filled in English.

For example I have a mb 105 stamped double on cap.

quoting an ad:  Montblanc n. 105 PIX-O-MAT , a 4 color ballpoint pen. DOUBLE'.
These pens were made only for few years, early 1970’s
body marked “doublè” on top,

I understand this topic is unknown to most users.

That is why i am looking for help. (doue is nowadays term for similar making, whille BB or similar have nothing to do with my question)

thanks and regards

Yes, Zurre, you are right.

"gold double" means "vergoldet" means "gold plated".

Don't ask me why Montblanc started to use the marking "double" but I'm quite sure that I know why they stopped using it: because the international customers didn't understand the meaning.

Another marking often causes irritations as you might know as an Italian:

In Italy they used the marking "18 K.R." for gold plated overlays on vintage Montblancs and "18 KR" for the solid gold overlays.  So watch our for the very important dots!
