Blackstone (Scents Of Australia) Wild Orange

More of these new Blackstone inks. As I said in the other reviews, I love these Blackstone inks for their wetness and lubrication. They are really wet inks, but they manage to keep feathering and bleeding to a minimum. Great job.

Colourwise it's not my favourite kind of orange. I love oranges that are brighter, more vibrant. This one is one of those "burnt orange" colours, which I like less. But I know there are fans of these burnt oranges.

Comparison

At this level of wetness I find it quite similar to Kunzea Red.

I like it.

I like it too - though I take @Lgsoltek's point that in wetter pens, it's a dark blood-orange that approaches the colour of Kunzea Red.

This ink reminds me of autumn and foliage. The autumn here in Chicago is glorious and this ink would be great for that time of year. Thanks for the review!!

Another nice burnt orange for University of Texas fans.

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

Now that's the colour I was expecting Uluru to be! Very nice.

Will work for pens...

Good point - Uluru's a bit more of an orange-brown, at least in all the pictures I've seen!

Stunning your comparisons with the red inks... I'm not sure whether I like this colour but I should test it myself.

Thanks for the review.

I really wanted to love, love, LOVE this ink, but I have to say that it's my least favorite of the scented collection. The scent is slight —almost undistinguishable— and the color, as you mention, is obscure and "burnt".

I don't usually enjoy neon-flourescent oranges, but this is —and I apologize to those who love this color range— just, plain DULL. It's one of those inks that has no vibrance, no brilliance —kind of ... lifeless.

I know that Blackstone makes excellent inks —and there are some that I really love—, but this is not one of them.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
