Don't know if anyone else has posted this...........

I've seen a few posts on the VAC50 inkwell availability, for those who are interested, I just noticed that TWSBI has them back in stock as well as Amazon.

If this is old news, please disregard.

TWSBI inkwells are also sold on Gouletpens.com, where I usually buy my fountain pens and ink samples from. But what is so special about TWSBI inkwells? and will it fit with any TWSBI pens? I have a TWSBI Vac 700R

There are two types of inkwell. The type 50 works well with the pens like a TWSBI Classic, the TWSBI Mini, and the TWSBI 580. It has a double cap. Open one way and you have a standard inkwell with a nice well for drawing ink even when the bottle is almost empty. Open another way and you have a mechanism for filling the pen without the need to clean the nib. Your Vac 700 would have to work with the standard opening. It will not fill from the TWSBI opening.

But, the type 20 inkwell is designed for the Vac 700. Open one way and it's a tall, narrow bottle of ink that will fill any pen. Opened another way, you can actually screw your Vac 700 into the inkwell, turn the assembly upside down, and get a full fill in one stroke and with minimal mess.

I will caution you that I haven't purchased a TWSBI in a few years and there has been some redesign of pens and inkwells. I'm not sure how compatibility is affected, but I know the basic operation I just explained is still the same.

But you may want to watch a YouTube video to picture what I am describing.

The cap setup on the Vac20 inkwell also can be used on the vac50 inkwell. The vac20 ink well is plastic and the vac50 is a nicer glass ink well.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
