It seems in August Montblanc will introduce new LE ink - Antoine Saint - Exupery. It'll be sold in 50 ml bottles for 35 euros. I hope it's ok to post it now in june of the bottle can be preordered in some shops?

Exactly. It seems they've actually increaded their ink price by +/- 62 %. It was elegantly made as it seems older and smaller bottles are no longer available so they can say that it's new bottle and there's more ink inside. Given the volume though, the ink should cost 26-27 euros and not 35. Anyway - it sure guarantees higher margin for MB. On the other hand I'm pretty sure the sales will decrease. I won't buy this ink and so far I used to buy all MB LE inks to try. I think I'm not alone. Given the higer mark-up even if the sales decrease they'll still be fine though. As a plus it'll feel more luxurious than nowadays to get such a bottle.

I agree with you wholeheartedly, Vis. I don't mind if they charge more with bigger bottles, but at least make it proportionate, not this downright robbery. With this price increase I just stop wanting them anymore. (Same thing happened to me with Bung Box inks.)

Thanks for the heads up and photo. What surprises me is the choice of an earthy colour for a guy who as well as having been an author, was known for being a pilot. With his two most famous books being (Night Flight) and the planet-oriented (The Little Prince), I would have expected something in the blue range for sky.

Someone has 10 of these to sell now on EBay.

With the new FPN rules, now I REALLY don't know what to put in my signature.

And since MB online shop shows the Unicef Special Edition ink @ $39.00, the price seems reasonable for the listing.

I like the color from the swab. Looks like I'll get a bottle to try out.

+1 to that. I like dark colours.

I don't know where he got it from but Fritz Schimpf says that the color reminds us of a sunset in the desert.

'Sunset in the desert.' That is marketing at its very best! Attractive color.

Bob, right on! Since we all know what his last years (and dreams) in the war were like, it is no wonder that he must have loved that color (sighted over the desert from his plane).

Hmm! I would have expected another colour, I have to admit, just judging from the colours of the pens... But this seems blackberry and the price is in fact not reasonable at all.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
