Massdrop - Lamy 2000 - $99

Bought a second L2K, wanted an EF to go with my F. Absolute steal, $15 cheaper than even amazon, over $50 cheaper than goulet (sorry Goulet, I did buy my other L2K from you!)

That link gives me a bonus if five of you pick one up too (I'm not affiliated with massdrop in any way, just a bonus they offered me after my purchase)

All sizes are available as of this posting, EF, F, M, B.

If you were on the fence about a lamy 2000, this is the best time to jump in. I can say after getting my first that this pen is hands down one of the finest writing instruments ever designed, and the infamous "Sweet spot" is hugely overblown.

Build quality is even better than either of my visconti.

Ordered.

I bought the Stainless Steel one because I found one in Germany which offered a OBB nib & have hated the thing because it was just too heavy & slippery when in use.

I chose the SS because I HATE Black pens; now I hope the Makrolon will seem like a better alternative to the SS............& I can switch the nibs, anyway. (SOMEDAY, I am determined to "get" the Lamy 2000 thing, if it doesn't kill or bankrupt me first!)

I would love to buy a couple of the Lamy 2000, they don't post to Australia for some reason, maybe they think *the land down under* is too far away LOL

Got my 2k in the mail today... With the wrong nib. They sent me an F, I ordered an EF. I emailed them, they said they didn't have any pens to replace it with the correct one, but they offered me to return it for a refund or offer me a $10 credit towards my next purchase with them.

Neither of those is acceptable. I'll wait to hear back from them, but I'm very annoyed. I already have an F. Sending it in to be reground would be about $40, so I either need close to or that amount back, or a substantial discount on something in-store, because returning it for a refund would cost me money as well as just have been a royal waste of time.

I'd also be willing to trade my lightly used F for a lightly used EF, but it's difficult and obnoxious to do that.

Will Lamy swap your nib as it's new?

Massdrop got back to me and offered me either a $15 flat credit back, which isn't a bad deal ($85 for a lamy 2000 is a ripping deal,) but they also said they're talking with the supplier and might just be sending anyone who got their order screwed up a new pen if I was willing to wait.

It sounds like the vendor screwed up a lot of F and EF's, since they both say "fine" on the box, sounds like the person who packed them just wasn't paying enough attention to realize that they were two different pens.

I'll update further when massdrop lets me know. If they are willing to just ship me another 2000, I'd be thrilled to death, but if they want me to send it back, I have a local friend who ordered an F and got an EF - we'll just swap and take the $15 credit.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
