I'm really enjoying my new Conklin All American, and at least one other FPN member likes his, so I thought I'd repost this here which I initially posted in the "first stop" forum to a multitude of yawns. I think this pen is undeservedly underrated. I think Conklin should lower the price a bit, maybe by $10. or so. I think they'd have a hit with this pen. In a nutshell: looks great, writes well.

I'm just seeing your post. I've never used a Conklin before. I am glad you like it. I know the vintage Conklin pens are often very good. (so I hear) Congratulations!

I have a number of Conklins (of the new version), but I have not bought any lately. I find them to be not as well constructed as other pens and I absolutely do not like their clips.

 

Vintage Conklins are another story.

Thanks KK. Yes I quite like it. It's a hefty pen and writes well. For me it was worth the price. If Conklin lowered the price to around $50.00 I think they would have a hit like the Metro or the Safari, but I don't think that's happening.

 

Erick - I'm not crazy about the clip, but it fits in with the size of the pen and wasn't a reason for me not to get the pen. The "rocker" function is neat too.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
