Hi, Folks!

We just got in the new Caran d'Ache 849 Fountain Pens and they are great! We have been passing around the Flourescent Orange demonstrator pen and just can't put it down! We think these will be fun pens to own and a deal at $51.95!

They come with smooth writing medium, fine and extra fine stainless steel nibs.

They come in seven great colors: Flourescent Green, Flourescent Orange, Flourescent Pink, Flourescent Yellow, Metal Black, Metal White, and Sapphire Blue.

You can see all the new pens here:

We expect them to sell quickly so don't be surprised at stock outs early. We are already re-ordering more!

Thanks!

That's one big step from the barrel to the section! What is the section made of?

The section is plastic. We've been using the tester a lot and the pen is surprisingly comfortable to write with. Kind of like a large size pencil in the hand, though cool because it's made of aluminum and painted.

OK, thanks for the reply. Your price of $51.95 is the best I've seen yet except for ebay which is about a buck less plus their "FREE Shipping on eligible orders" nonsense. Also, you didn't mention we get "Free USA shipping on orders of $25 or more" from your site, right?

I found a quick (1:48) but fairly thorough review of the Caran d'Ache 849 Fountain Pen on YouTube, it answers most questions:

There are no reviews on the FPN yet. The pen doesn't post deep at all and looks like it might be a bit back-heavy when posted.

Yes, we offer free USA shipping on orders of $25 or more in our webstore, penherostore.com

The pen posts by the inner cap sleve inserting into a round groove in the base of the barrel, so the pen is pretty darn long when posted. It's light weight, so no balance problem. We are all writing with it unposted because the barrel is already quite long.

Thanks!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
