I've been lusting after my husband's TWSBIs for a while (he has a Diamond 580 and a Mini) and he bought me my own, woohooo!!! It's a lovely turquoise TWSBI Diamond 580AL, and I lovelovelove it. Above: my first doodle with it, inked up with Iroshizuku Syo-Ro! I used a water brush for the smeary bits.

Very nice! I have the silver one myself, but kinda wish I had waited until this one came out. :)

very nice. I have the 580 Al in pink and green. And the mini blue. I generally find the twsbi a little heavy, in fact i bought the mini blue and it was really lighter. But this torquoise is very nice, i think i'll buy first or then.

Which nib did you choose? i have the m nib on 580 and 1,1 on mini, very nice the 1,1

Got the turquoise one when it came out. Haven't inked it yet. Is it sad that I have a bunch of pens that have not seen ink as of yet? They're just lying there waiting. I do pull out the drawer daily to gaze fondly upon them though :D

In response to pinkladywriter - I really love the weight of the TWSBI. I've always preferred a larger barreled, heavier pen so the TWSBI really does it for me. I'm also super jelly that you got a green one. I have that on my "must-have" list along with the black/rose gold pen. Unlikely I'll ever see one of those :(

I have the Pink. I hesitated to get one because I was worried about the weight (especially posted) but then got to try a 580 AL a couple of months ago at a pen club meeting. Had gone into Birmingham Pens to take a look at the Pacific Al-Stars but the color didn't wow me (it wasn't bad, just not as good as I had hoped. So then I took a peek around the counter to see what else Nick had and discovered he had the Pink in a couple of different nib widths in stock and it was All Over .

Yup. Went in to buy a $37 US pen, came out with a $60 pen instead; really liking the B nib -- even more than the B nib on the M400 Stresemann I got last spring. I've been running De Atramentis Sky Blue in the pen (because Nick had also just gotten a shipment of De Atramentis inks in, so I dip tested several of those and ended up with three colors, including the Sky Blue.

No hope for me at ALL....

yeepers: I have several uninked pens as well (mostly Lamy Safaris) and a LOT of inks to try out!

mitto: Thank you!

Ruth: So many of your posts make me want to buy more ink! Or pens! :-D

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
